Texas Parks Recreation and Conservation Grants to Local Governments and Non- Profits

For the past 34 years the Texas Legislature and Texas Parks and Wildlife have partnered with Texas’ Local Governments and Non-Profits to provide close to home parks, recreation and conservation experiences for our citizens. Since 1979 Texas Parks and Wildlife Local Park Grant programs have invested more than $390.2 million (matching funds) grant dollars in 1,630 projects throughout the state.  This investment has provided for the acquisition and development of local park and recreation sites, and provided resources to supplement local park and conservation programs that introduce children and families to the outdoors. These grants have been made from the Texas Recreation and Parks Account, reinvesting sales taxes paid by Texas citizens in close to home recreation opportunities.
